The Houston Children's Museum

It took most of the summer, but we finally found a weekend to go visit Persis in Houston. Persis and I lived together in Waco while she attended Law School at Baylor.

Lara and I loaded the boys up in the car Saturday morning and headed to Houston. We got there around lunch time. After a stop at Persis and Matt's new house we, we met another friend, Casey, and her two boys at Chick-Fil-A. We all ate lunch and then headed over to the Children's Museum. I had heard great things about the museum and they ended up to all be true. There was a large area called the "Tot Spot" that was just great for the boys.

We just walked behind the boys as they ventured from this to that and back to this again. At one point I remember imagining with Casey that the tot spot was at our house. If that were the case, I don't think I would ever see the boys... they would never stop playing. There were so many neat things for them to do.

The gigantic Lite Brite

Kyle was in heaven... a light switch at his level!

Doorbells, switches, knobs and latches... paradise...

I laughed that Kyle stopped to play with a toy that we have... one that he never plays with at home!

Casey was nice enough to host us at their new house Saturday night. She and Jon made dinner for us and then Kyle and Kase took a bath in her big bath tub.

Lara helped me put the boys to bed, and then we stayed up way too late talking over several glasses of wine. The next morning Casey took us to a park area near her house. The boys played in the spray fountains, and then we all had lunch at a great pizza place that was next to the fountains.

Although this visit was not like any other trip that Lara and I had taken to Houston, we still had a great time. And I know the boys had a blast... and that is really all that matters.

Thank you so much to Persis and Casey for hosting us. We can't wait to come visit again soon.
