The twins' first vacation

We left for vacation to the Dominican Republic on Thursday, July 10th. The trip was the 2008 installment of Vacation Club. We went with Jen and Corey and Tom and Cheryl. The plan was to fly from DFW to San Juan, Puerto Rico and then from there to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where our resort was.

After boarding the plane to San Juan we were informed that there was a mechanical problem with our plane and a switch needed to be replaced, which may or may not fix the problem. Everyone was ready to get our vacation started so we ordered a few drinks at the TGI Friday's in the airport while we waited for our plan to be fixed. I had a Shirley Temple! I'm sure you can guess how the rest of this story goes... our flight is delayed so much that we miss our next flight to Punta Cana... the last flight there of the day. So we spent the first night of our vacation stuck in Puerto Rico. And it wouldn't have been all that bad if we would have had time to venture out, but by the time we got our food and hotel vouchers it was dark outside. We ate at an Outback and had some fun at a roulette table in some casino in Old San Juan. It was still a fun time, but we all wished we would have been at our final destination.

Here we are the next day in the San Juan Airport, hoping to all get on the first flight to Punta Cana of the day. We all made it. You wold have thought we won the lottery!

It was a very short flight to Punta Cana. And a VERY crazy cab ride to our resort. We stayed at the Punta Cana Princess. It is an adult only, all-inclusive. And we loved it! They brought us fruit punch and cool cloths while we were checking in.

Jason and I reserved a Honeymoon Suite... just because. It had a loft with a sunken jacuzzi tub. All the rooms had a living area and a mini fridge that was always stocked with water, beer, coke, sprite and of course, rum!

And then we hit the pool...

And the beach...

The two extras in this picture are Ryan and Jen from Canada. We made lots of friends on the trip! The sand and beach in the Dominican were some of the best I've seen. The sand was so white and soft.

We did take some time out to eat a meal or two! Corey loved his raw meat at the Italian place!

The Pitts and the Crenshaws had to leave on Monday. Jason and I stayed until Wednesday. They had kids to get home to, but were still very sad to leave. Jason and I agreed it was one of our best decisions to stay two extra days. Of course, later that day when we started feeling sick he had to question our decision.

Jason slept in the room one day while I read my book by the pool. He kept telling me how sorry he was for leaving me alone all day, but I was perfectly content with my book. I hadn't had a chance to even crack it. Jason is not usually a sitter on vacations so it really worked out okay for me. I just wish he hadn't felt so bad. He started feeling better by the time it was time to go home. Such great timing!
We had such an amazing vacation and realize that it will be our last for quite a while!

I knew this would happen...

I knew I would be a terrible blogger. I suppose all I can do is ask for forgiveness and try to keep up in the future.

Our second Dr. appointment was July 7th. It was pretty uneventful. It took FOREVER for those 4 weeks to pass between the first and second appointments, and once we were there it was over in literally 15 minutes. We did get to see both babies again and their heartbeats. But, I forgot to ask for more pictures. The only question I remembered to ask was about my heart. Sometimes in the middle of the day and when I'm laying in bed about to fall asleep I can feel my heart stop and skip a beat.

I first told my sister (the almost Physician Assistant) about it. She is just so handy to have around. She explained that when you are pregnant the amount of blood in your body will double. I had heard/read about that. Well, she also told me that the number of red blood cells in your blood increases, but does not double. So the blood has less red blood cells in it per ounce or liter or what ever unit you wish to measure with. The very intelligent heart can somehow detect this and for some reason compensates by skipping a beat sometimes. Jenny, please correct me if I got any of that wrong. So really, its no big deal. I told Dr. Moore about it and he said it wasn't a problem and that my iron levels were fine.

Next appointment is Aug 4th. I'll be 16 weeks and 4 days.

Not so sweet dreams

I've been having some crazy dreams lately. And I've even been able to remember them. That usually never happens.

One time I was running from Ed Harris, who was a cop trying to arrest me. I don't know what for. At one point during the chase I sat down at a booth in a restaurant with three strangers to try to blend in. That didn't work and the chase continued.

Another night I was Tony Sorprano and running from the cops. We were hiding in this old church with great big, uncovered windows. It was a terrible hiding place, and the cops found us by shining their flashlights in the windows. One of the cops was escorting me to the cop car, but out of respect for me was allowing me to walk unhandcuffed. On the way to the car, my mom was standing there with a huge bowl of popcorn and offered me some. But, hidden under all the popcorn was a black bag full of supplies and essentials that I would need as I continued my life on the run. So I dug my hand into the bowl of popcorn, grabbed the bag, and ran off into the dark woods.

Then, just the other night I had a dream that my friend, Jen Pitts, was 7 weeks pregnant. Wouldn't be all that crazy of a dream except Jen and her husband, Corey, have three very active kids and have taken measures to insure that they don't have any more. I've heard Corey joke with Jen before that if she gets pregnant again that she would have some explaining to do! Catch my drift? So, in my dream Jen is pregnant, but was very calm with it. And it was known that Jen didn't do any cheating, and that it was a medical miracle that she was pregnant. I told Jen about my dream the next morning and she assured me that she would NOT be calm if she were to get pregnant!

I can't wait to fall asleep tonight and live another crazy dream. This stuff is better than the movies!
